Nel de Mûelenaere
Scientific coordinator
Nel de Mûelenaere (°1984) is a member of the Department of History at Antwerp University, where she obtained her PhD. Her principal research interests concern the cultural, political and social impact of war and the interplay between militarization, nationalism and gender on both the personal as the societal level.
Andreas Stynen
Scientific coordinator
Andreas Stynen (°1980) is a cultural historian with a PhD from Leuven University. Since 2010 he works as a researcher at the ADVN. His interests include memory and national movements, urbanism, popular musical culture and trans-Atlantic migration. For NISE he has organised several workshops and edited a series of publications, including the online journal SNM.
Elly Broes
Administrative coordinator
Elly Broes (°1965) takes care of all NISE administration and communication. At the ADVN she worked as a librarian and manager of public relations before becoming responsible for the institute’s human resources.
